Parvin-Clauss Sign Company, a fast growing, family-owned business based in Carol Stream, Illinois, is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and detail oriented individual to manage our installation team.  Our installation team provides sign installation and repair services in the Chicagoland area.  Ideal candidates for this position will possess a solid work ethic.

The Sign Manufacturing Production Manager will oversee the entire production process of our signage manufacturing operations. This role requires a strong leader with excellent organizational and communication skills to ensure that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and on schedule. The ideal candidate will have a background in manufacturing, preferably within the signage industry, and will be responsible for managing the production team, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring that all products meet our high standards of quality.

Responsibilities

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Team Management:
  • Supervise, train, and motivate production staff, including hiring and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct weekly L10 meeting with production team.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Production Management:
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all production activities to ensure timely and cost-effective manufacturing of signs.
  • Use of manufacturing ERP system using BOM/OPS layouts.
  • Develop and implement production schedules, work orders, and manufacturing plans to meet customer deadlines.
  • Monitor production processes, adjust schedules as needed, and resolve any production issues that arise.
  • Review and manage work center loads with scheduling to address overtime needs or adding of a second shift.
  • Coordination and Communication:
  • Collaborate with the sales, purchasing, scheduling and design teams to review jobs released into production to ensure seamless production and installation of signage.
  • Communicate effectively with internal clients regarding production timelines, specifications, and any potential delays.
  • Prepare and present regular production reports to the Operations Manager.
  • Quality Control:
  • Oversee quality control procedures to ensure that all products meet or exceed customer specifications and company standards.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance protocols and processes.
  • Address any quality issues promptly and work on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Equipment and Inventory Management:
  • Manage inventory of raw materials, supplies, and finished products to ensure adequate stock levels and minimize waste.
  • Report all materials needs to the Purchasing Coordinator.
  • Work with purchasing to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Optimize the use of machinery, equipment, and human resources to maximize efficiency.
  • Quickly diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions, minimizing production interruptions.
  • Develop and implement troubleshooting procedures and maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive equipment management strategy to ensure maximum operational efficiency and minimal downtime.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all manufacturing equipment and manage equipment lifecycle, including acquisition, installation, maintenance, and retirement.
  • Coordinate with Operations Manager, the purchase of new equipment and parts, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Write and implement safety programs to ensure manufacturing employees are working safely.
  • Conduct weekly Toolbox talks with the production department.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in the sign manufacturing industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in production management software and tools.
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles and practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
